ITINERARY: Bishkek – Ala-Archa – Burana – Cholpon-Ata – Grigorievka – Karakol – Jeti-Oguz – Skazka – Bokonbaevo – Bishkek

Day 1. Arrival to Kyrgyzstan. International Manas Airport – Bishkek (30 km)

Lunch and dinner included

Arrival at the International ‘Manas’ Airport. “Jannat Travel” representative meets you at arrivals. Transfer by private transport to the hotel. The drive takes approximately 40 min. Arrival to the city of Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan with a population of about over one million people at an elevation of 700-900 m above sea level.

Check in at the hotel. Rest until lunch time. Lunch at a local restaurant.

After lunch sightseeing tour in Bishkek. Visit Philharmonic, Central Square Ala-Too, Monument of the National Hero Manas, Statue of Lenin, Old Square with Parliament House, Kurmanzhan Datka Monument, Oak Park, Opera House, Victory Square dedicated to the WWII. Dinner in a restaurant. Night in a hotel.

Day 2. Bishkek – Ala-Archa National Park – Bishkek (80 km in both directions)

Breakfast, lunch, dinner included

Breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast drive up to Ala-Archa National Natural Park, located in a picturesque gorge of Ala Archa 40 km far from Bishkek. In the National Park you can easily hike along the main gorge of Ala-Archa and back to enjoy views of magnificent peaks of Kyrgyz Ala-Too Ridge (Tien Shan Mountains). Lunch in the park (everybody gets lunchboxes). After visiting the park, we drive back to the city and visit the central bazaar of Bishkek and the department store – ZUM. Dinner at a restaurant.

Day 3. Bishkek – Burana – Cholpon-Ata (280 km)

Breakfast, lunch, dinner included

Breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast drive to Cholpon-Ata. On the way visit Burana tower – middle age minaret, built in Balasagun town – the capital of Karakhanid State (IX-XI AD). Explore ruins of that important trading point at the Great Silk Road and visit a little local museum and a collection of Balbals, Turkic ancient stone sculptures.  After excursion in Burana, continue driving to Cholpon-Ata via Boom gorge.

Cholpon-Ata city is located on the northern shore of Lake Issyk-Kul and is famous for its petroglyphs, resorts and sandy beaches. Upon arrival, visit Petroglyphs site, the temple in the open air of Scythians and Hungsuns civilizations in 9-8 centuries BC till 3-4 centuries AD. Accommodation in a hotel. The rest of the day is free. The hotel has its own beach area so you can go for a swim in the lake.

Issyk-Kul Lake is the second largest alpine lake in the world after Lake Titicaca in South America. Measuring 180 km long by 60 km wide, the lake appeared as a result of volcanic activity and at the altitude of 1609 m above sea level. Dinner in a restaurant. Night in a hotel. 

Day 4. Cholpon-Ata – Grigoryevka gorge – Karakol (160 km)

Breakfast, lunch, dinner included

Breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast drive to the city of Karakol. On the way visit a beautiful Grigorievka gorge. Light hiking in the gorge. Grigorievka gorge is a long and picturesque gorge on the northern shore of the Lake Issyk-Kul, near the village of Grigorievka. The gorge is famous for its wooded slopes and breathtaking landscapes.

Lunch in the gorge, everybody gets lunchboxes.

After excursion continue driving to Karakol. On the way visit the museum of the famous Russian Explorer N. M. Przhevalski. Arrival to Karakol. Check in at the hotel. Karakol is the administrative center of Yssy-Kul. The city is situated in the east of Yssyk-Kul Basin at the mouth of Karakol river, in the foothills of the Terskey Ala-Too (Tien Shan) mountains, at the altitude of 1770 m above sea level. Dinner in a local ethno-restaurant. Overnight in a hotel.

Day 5. Karakol – Jeti-oguz – Tamga (120 km)

Breakfast, lunch, dinner included

Breakfast at the hotel. Before we leave Karakol we will visit its places of interests such as: The Dungan mosque (XIX century) a unique building built in Chinese style with no nails used. Also visit the wooden Russian Orthodox Cathedral Church of the Holy Trinity built without any nails at the end of the XIX century. After sightseeing tour, drive up to Jeti-Oguz gorge. Upon arrival light hiking in the gorge. Jeti-Oguz” (means Seven Bulls in kyrgyz)  is a scenic mountain valley, which is famous for its red rocks called “Seven Bulls” and “Broken Heart”. After light hiking drive along the south shore of the lake to Tamga village. Upon arrival accommodation at the guesthouse.

The rest of the day is dedicated to the beach time and enjoying the beautiful sunset. Dinner and overnight in the guesthouse. 

Day 6. Tamga – Skazka Canyon – Bokonbaevo – Bishkek (320 km)

Breakfast, lunch, dinner included

Breakfast in the guesthouse. After breakfast drive to Bishkek. On the way visit to Skazka (Fairy Tale) canyon with its colorful sandy formations. It provides one of the best views of the Yssyk-Kul Lake. After enjoying the canyon drive to Bokonbaev town where we have the Shyrdak (carpet) show. It is possible to take part in “Shyrdak show” yourself and try to make your own felt rug!

Lunch in a local family house in Bokonbaevo. Also you can get folklore show at the same place.  After lunch continue driving to Bishkek.  Overnight in a hotel in Bishkek. Farewell dinner at a restaurant.

Folklore Show of Traditional Music (extra cost). Optionally/Can be ordered upon request.

Day 7. Bishkek – Airport (30 km)

Breakfast included

In the morning after breakfast transfer to the airport, flight back home. End of the tour.

Additional Info

Please have in mind that the summer in Bishkek can be hot. The temperature can reach up to + 38-39 C. and up in the mountains it can decrease to below 0 C. The weather in the mountainous areas is unpredictable.

Recommended:

You can take anything you like but here is our recommendation to take with: Rain-coat, fleece, Wind-stopper, Hat, Sun-block cream, Bathing suit, Sunglasses. Trekking boots for easy hikes in the mountains. Personal first aid kit and hygiene kit.

If you want or plan to exchange US/Euro to Kyrgyz Som (local currency), we recommend to take the notes of 20, 50, 100 USD/Euro without any spots, inscriptions, stamps and other types of damage, because exchange offices and banks do not accept such damaged banknotes.
