Summer adventures of Kyrgyzstan

Itinarary: Bishkek – Ala-Archa – ZIL – Suusamyr Valley – Kegety Gorge – Burana – Son-Kul Lake – Yssyk Kul – Bishkek.

Day 1. Airport – Bishkek – Ala-Archa – Bishkek

Breakfast included

Arrival at the International “Manas” Airport. Jannat travel representative meets you at arrivals. Transfer to the city. The drive takes approximately 40 min.  Early check in is included. The drive takes approximately 40 min. Arrival to the city of Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan with a population of about over one million people. At an elevation of 700-900 m above sea level.

Check in at the hotel. Breakfast at the hotel. Little rest after breakfast and start tour in Bishkek and surroundings. Firstly, we drive to the natural park Ala-Archa for a light walk, relaxing and meeting the nature of Kyrgyzstan. After walking, transfer back to Bishkek and have a light half day city tour. Visit Central Square Ala-Too, Monument of the National Hero Manas, Statue of Lenin, Kurmanzhan Datka Monument, Oak Park, Old Square with Parliament House, Opera House, Victory Square dedicated to the WWII.

Day 2. Bishkek – ZIL – Bishkek

Breakfast included

Breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast, drive to ZIL – the ski resort and the most popular place for activities. ZIL is located in a beautiful picturesque place at an altitude of 1850m above sea level. There we have some activities like Rope Jumping or Shot Gun Shooting. After activities drive back to Bishkek.

Day 3 Bishkek – Suusamyr Valley (150 km)

Breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast drive to Suusamyr Jailoo – the picturesque valley, located approximately 150 km from Bishkek, at an elevation of between 2000 –  3000 m above sea level. It’s a great destination off the beaten paths, You’ll enjoy a great view on the high peaks, their eternal snow at the distance, pure nature, its agitated rivers and a beautiful panorama of endless green pastures. Upon arrival, accommodation at the yurt camp in yurts, where we spend 2 days.

Yurt is a traditional dwelling of nomadic people of Central Asia. The foundation of yurt consists of wooden carcass and several felt layers. The construction of such dwelling doesn’t require a lot of time that makes it practical and useful for locals. The interior of a yurt is decorated with felt carpets and traditional embroidery. Night in a yurt.

 Day 4. Suusamyr Valley

Free day in Suusamyr.

Options to do:

Walking around the area.

-Visiting local nomad families living nearby.

-Horseback riding 10 USD/per person per hour

-Horseback riding traditional games 150 USD/per group

Day 5. Suusamyr – Kegety Gorge (240 km)

Breakfast, lunch, dinner included

Breakfast at the yurt camp. Check out after breakfast and drive to Kegety Gorge. The gorge itself is beautiful: half of it is covered with mixed coniferous and deciduous forests, in which there are many birches, mountain ashes, pines and larch trees. Each side gorge has a forest. The main gorge has 2 large beautiful waterfalls. The first of them, 42 m high, is close to the beginning of the gorge. The second one, which is 36 m high, is nearer to the end of the gorge. arrival to Kegety Gorge, accommodation in the guest house. After short rest we will begin hiking approximaletly 7,5 km (3-4 hours) to Kol-Tor Lake, ascending an elevation of 900 metres. The hike reveals the picturesque valley with a view of Kol Tor Lake – located at an altitude of 2,725 meters with its unusually beautiful turquoise color. Lunch and dinner in the guest house.

Day 6. Kegety Gorge – Burana – Son Kul Lake (260 km)

Breakfast at the guest house. After breakfast drive to Son Kul Lake. On the way visit to Burana Tower. Burana Tower is a middle age minaret, built in Balasagun town – the capital of Karakhanid State (IX-XI AD). Explore ruins of that important trading point at the Great Silk Road and visit a little local museum and a collection of Balbals, Turkic ancient stone sculptures. After excursion continue driving to Sok Kul Lake. Lunch and dinner at the yurt camp in Son Kul.

Son Kul – the second biggest lake in the country at the altitude of 3016m above sea level. It is a place where nomads live in a traditional simplicity, bringing their cattle for summer pastureland. It is a great opportunity to spend time with friendly nomad families, to taste their fresh airan (yoghurt) and kymys (a fermented national drink made of mare’s milk) to enjoy a breathtaking view and a beautiful sunset.

Day 7. Son Kul – Issyk Kul (270 km)

Breakfast included

After breakfast drive to Issyk-Kul Lake. Issyk-Kul – the second largest alpine lake in the world after Lake Titicaca in South America. Measuring 182 km long by 60 km wide, at an altitude of 1609 m above sea level, the lake appeared as a result of volcanic activity. Extremely deep and nicely warm over the centuries the lake has been something of an oasis in this inhospitable mountain environment. Upon arrival to Yssyk-Kul, check in at the yurt camp in Bokonbaev village.

Day 8. Yssyk Kul – Bishkek (270 km)

Breakfast, lunch, dinner included   

Free and relaxing day in Yssyk-Kul.

Options to do:

-Swimming in the lake

Optionally:

-Eagle hunting show

-Yurt installation show

After lunch time drive to Bishkek. Upon arrival to Bishkek check in at the hotel.

Day 9. Bishkek

Breakfast included

Breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast shopping tour in Bishkek city.

Day 10. Bishkek – Airport (30 km)

Breakfast included

Early breakfast in the morning. After breakfast transfer to the airport, flight back home. End of the tour.

Additional Info

Please have in mind that the summer in Bishkek is usually hot. The temperature can reach up to + 38-39 C. and up in the mountains it can decrease to below 0 C. The weather in the mountainous areas can be unpredictable.

Recommended:

You can take anything you like but here is our recommendation to take with: Rain-coat, fleece, Wind-stopper, Hat, Sun-block cream, Bathing suit, Sunglasses. Trekking boots for easy hikes in the mountains. Personal first aid and hygiene kit.

Money exchange

if you want or plan to exchange US/Euro to Kyrgyz Som (local currency), we recommend to take the notes of 20, 50, 100 USD/Euro without any spots, inscriptions, stamps and other types of damage, because exchange offices and banks do not accept such damaged banknotes.
